Provost Ahad announces search for new Campus Life leader

Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Badia Ahad announced in a Nov. 5 Emory University News Center article that the University will launch a search to find a permanent leader of Campus Life by July 1, 2026.

Some of Campus Life’s responsibilities at Emory include managing the Career Center, Campus Dining, Emory Mail Service and Residence Life and Housing Operations.

Associate Vice President of Campus Life and Director of Athletics Keiko Price Carter will serve as the interim dean of Campus Life beginning Nov. 10, and will remain in the role until a new leader is selected. Additionally, on Nov. 10, Heather Mugg, who has been serving as interim dean of student affairs since July, will return to her role as Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs.

Ahad’s announcement follows the July departures of four senior administrators in the Campus Life Division, including Senior Vice President and Dean of Campus Life Enku Gelaye.

Additionally, Ahad, who transitioned into her new role as provost on Nov. 1, shared her excitement about working with Carter, who has overseen Emory Athletics since 2020.

“I look forward to Keiko’s partnership as we search for a strong, student-centered and collaborative leader,” Ahad wrote.
