At 1:05 p.m., Emory University sent an emergency text message to community members stating that there is a police emergency at Emory Point near the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) campus.
There are multiple Atlanta Police Department patrol cars on the scene, as well as two helicopters circling the area.
On Aug. 8, 2025, an active shooter in the Emory Point area caused a “police emergency.” The shooter, Patrick White, shot and killed DeKalb County police officer David Rose. White fired shots that hit the CDC buildings. White was "neutralized" during a firefight with police.
Update: At 1:37 p.m. Fox 5 Atlanta reported that there is no active shooter on the scene.
Update: At 2:04 p.m. Emory sent another text message to community members, which stated that the police emergency at Emory Point is ongoing.
Update: At 2:39 p.m. Emory sent a text message stating that the emergency situation was over.
