The baseball team competed in a double-header at Georgia Gwinnett College on Saturday. The men fell 4-3 in the early game but bounced back with a 4-1 victory in the late game, earning a split with the Grizzlies. In the early game, the Eagles fell behind 2-0 after two innings until junior Daniel Iturrey made a two-RBI double to even the score in the fourth. The No.3-ranked Emory men’s tennis team defeated Sewanee College (Tenn.) by a score of 9-0 on Tuesday. The Eagles won in a clean sweep, winning every singles and doubles match. The match was held in Sewanee, Tenn. At first singles, sophomore Ian Wagner beat his opponent 1-6, 6-2, 10-7. The No.3-ranked Emory women’s tennis team took off on a three-match, northeast road trip this weekend, winning two of three matches. The Eagles defeated No.9-ranked Middlebury College (Vt.) on Friday and No.9-ranked Bowdoin College (Mass.) on Saturday. On Sunday, Emory fell to No.5-ranked Williams College (Mass.). The men’s and women’s track and field teams hosted the Emory Classic this weekend. The men’s squad finished in fifth place, and the women’s squad finished first. The men’s team came out of the meet with three first-place finishes and 20 scoring performances and scored 91 total points. University of Alabama in Huntsville finished in first place with a score of 125.5, followed by Buffalo State College (N.Y.) with 103, Taylor College (Fla.) in third (96.5), and Cumberlands College (Ky.) who placed fourth (92). Friday marked the 15th straight victory for the No. 2-ranked softball team as the women beat Covenant College (Ga.) twice in a double-header. The fourth-ranked Emory women’s tennis team spent its spring break in Hawaii and then came back to Emory to host University Athletic Association (UAA) for Tufts University (Mass.). The Eagles swept their set of games in Hawaii, recording a 9-0 victory over the University of Hawaii on Thursday, March 14 and a 4-3 win over Hawaii Pacific University on the following Friday. The No. 14-ranked Emory women’s basketball team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament with two home victories. The Emory women’s basketball team is heading into the NCAA Tournament on fire and beyond well-prepared this weekend. The other three teams participating in the tournament will be the Ferrum College (Va.) Panthers (24-4), the Huntingdon College (Ala.) Hawks (18-9) and the Whitworth University (Wash.) Pirates (21-6). The Emory women’s basketball team lit up the courts over the weekend with a 62-61 win over Case Western Reserve University in overtime on Friday and a 76-55 triumph over Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday. After a seven-game winning streak, the 15th-ranked Emory women’s basketball team walked away with a loss to 12th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis by a score of 65-54.
