The Student Government Association (SGA) voted down a bill Monday evening that would have added an option to vote no confidence in the direction the University is headed in this Thursday’s student leadership elections electronic ballot. The bill was amended to shift its focus from University President James W. Wagner’s leadership specifically to Emory’s direction as a whole. Fire Breaks Out Near Few and Evans
A fire broke out early Sunday afternoon on the side of McDonough Field near Few and Evans Residence Halls. Around 1:30 p.m., students evacuated Few and Evans after a fire alarm rang. As they crowded across the street from the buildings on Eagle Row, DeKalb Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene at 1:35 p.m. after someone pulled the fire alarm, according to Emory Police Lieutenant Cheryl Elliott. Lamar To Perform At Dooley’s Week

Rapper Kendrick Lamar, DJ 3Lau and comedian Hannibal Buress will perform during this year’s Dooley’s Week, the theme of which is “Doolius Caesar Presents: When in Rome, Dooley as the Romans Do.” Dooley’s Week will take place from April 1-6. Lamar will perform on McDonough Field on Friday, April 5 and 3Lau will perform the following night for Dooley’s Ball, the culmination of Dooley’s Week, on McDonough Field as well. College Downsizes Departments, Phases Out Programs, Faculty, Staff
College Dean Robin Forman announced plans to “phase out” certain academic departments and reallocate resources within the College Friday afternoon in a letter sent to all College students. The University will close the Division of Educational Studies, the Department of Physical Education and the Department of Visual Arts, in addition to Emory’s Journalism program, Forman wrote in an additional letter available on the Emory website. Cox Food Court to Close During Summer for Kitchen Upgrade
The kitchen in Cox Hall will undergo renovation starting May 15 and will re-open on Aug. 13 in time for the fall semester, according to Interim Executive Director of the Food Service Administration Kenny Hemmer. Cox Hall Food Court will be closed this summer as a result of these renovations. Vice President for Campus Services Matthew Early cited old and dysfunctional equipment and the need for greater efficiency as the main reasons for the renovation.
