Ezra LeBank, Head of Movement at the University of Montana, recently wrote and acted in an original play entitled
PITCH. The play was directed by Pete Betcher and presented by Curbside.
The play will tour from Seattle to Los Angeles and back, running through July 31.
Groundbreaking in its innovative techniques,
PITCH is unprecedented in its performance style.
The play is a one-man show performed in living rooms, basements and garages.
LeBank does not announce where exactly the show will take place on any given night. The only way to find out the location is to purchase a ticket.
The production utilizes multimedia effects and encompasses an interactive blog site.
According to the press release, the show is a “satire about a guy who sets out on a road trip to persuade people to join an underground coalition that will indelibly change America.”
The protagonist is equipped with a few fake identities and a trunk full of dynamite. “
PITCH is the story of a new American dream,” writes LeBank in his press release.
Because of its alternative and edgy style,
PITCH is sure to challenge the way we determine what is theater. Good drama will pull the viewer in, captivating the mind until one gets lost in the plot line.
But what happens when a play engages all of the senses to such a degree that the viewer is actually part of the show?
LeBank began writing
PITCHH while he was visiting our fair city of Atlanta. But the bulk of this creation took place in Missoula, Mont., where he works.
Before Missoula, LeBank taught at Vassar College, Smith College, SUNY Purchase and The Juilliard School.
He has written and performed numerous works including
{Extinguish.}, Fresh Air and Roe V. Wade: The Abortion Debate.
